Too many candidates: Embedded covariate selection procedure for species distribution modelling with the covsel R package

چکیده

Selecting the best subset of covariates out a panel many candidates is key and highly influential stage species distribution modelling process. Yet, there currently no commonly accepted widely adopted standard approach by which to perform this selection. We introduce two-step “embedded” covariate selection procedure aimed at optimizing predictive ability parsimony models fitted in context high-dimensional candidate space. The combines collinearity-filtering algorithm (Step A) with three model-specific embedded regularization techniques B), including generalized linear model elastic net regularization, additive null-space penalization, guided regularized random forest. evaluated through an example application habitat suitability 50 Switzerland from suite 123 covariates. demonstrated provide significantly more accurate as compared obtained alternative procedures. CovSel: An R Package for Covariate Selection When Estimating Average Causal Effects

We describe the R package CovSel, which reduces the dimension of the covariate vector for the purpose of estimating an average causal effect under the unconfoundedness assumption. Covariate selection algorithms developed in De Luna, Waernbaum, and Richardson (2011) are implemented using model-free backward elimination. We show how to use the package to select minimal sets of covariates. The pac...

Species distribution modelling of invasive alien species; Pterois miles for current distribution and future suitable habitats

The present study aims to predict the potential geographic distribution and future expansion of invasive alien lionfish (Pterois miles) with ecological niche modelling along the Mediterranean Sea. The primary data consisted of occurrence points of P. miles in the Mediterranean and marine climatic data layers were collected from global databases. All the used models run 100% su...

Continuous Time Structural Equation Modelling With R Package ctsem

Note: This paper introduces the frequentist, maximum likelihood based form of ctsem. For the Bayesian implementation, see Hierarchical Bayesian Continuous Time Dynamic Modelling and Introduction to Hierarchical Continuous Time Dynamic Modelling With ctsem. We introduce ctsem (Driver, Oud, and Voelkle 2017), an R package for continuous time structural equation modelling of panel (N > 1) and time...

Sample Selection Models in R: Package sampleSelection

This introduction to the R package sampleSelection is a slightly modified version of Toomet and Henningsen (2008b), published in the Journal of Statistical Software. This paper describes the implementation of Heckman-type sample selection models in R. We discuss the sample selection problem as well as the Heckman solution to it, and argue that although modern econometrics has nonand semiparamet...

Covariate Augmented Dickey-fuller Tests with R Covariate Augmented Dickey-fuller Tests with R

This paper describes CADFtest, a R (R Development Core Team 2008) package for testing for the presence of a unit root in a time series using the Covariate Augmented Dickey-Fuller (CADF) test proposed in Hansen (1995). The procedures presented here are user friendly, allow fully automatic model specification, and allow computation of the asymptotic p-values of the test.
